"Reserva de Familia" Malbec from Bodega Sottano brings Gold from China

The award was in the category “Best Other Bordeaux Grape” at the Wine100 Challenge 2014 that took place in China.

The "Reserva de Familia" Malbec from Bodega Sottano got the Gold Medal in the category “Best Other Bordeaux Grape” at the Wine100 Challenge 2014, one of the most rigorous professional wine competitions in the world, which traditionally takes place in Shanghai, China.

After three days of tasting, the judges announced the list of winners of the respective medals. The notable aspect of this competition, in which only one gold medal is awarded per category, is that in many cases the medal goes unwon; very few wines have met the criteria to win this prestigious award, the winery explains.

With the methodology known as "blind tasting," the judges receive basic information on each wine: region, varietal, and alcohol content. The competing wines progress through qualifying stages until the judging panel, composed of internationally renowned viticulture experts, arrives at a final result, establishing an international norm of quality.

The 2009 Bodega Sottano Reserva de Familia is made from 100% Malbec grapes from Perdriel and was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

Bodega Sottano Reserva de Familia has a suggested retail price of [ARS] $210.
